Jun Ma

Harbin Institute of Technology


Graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology (BS, MS and PhD), Postdoctoral Fellow at Imperial College of UK (recipient of first class Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship). Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the Gust Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG) at Switzerland (Under the scheme of Federal Science Foundation of Switzerland). He is the Changjiang Scholar Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology and the Deputy Director of the National Engineering Research Center of Urban Water Resources, China. His interest has been in the area of Water and Wastewater Treatment. He has been working in the processes of oxidation, reduction, coagulation, dissolved air flotation, carbon related adsorbents and adsorption processes, nanoparticles and membranes, disinfection and by-products control. He is also interested in iron and manganese and arsenic removal from water, he has been devoted to heavy metal removal from water. He is the recipient of "Sustainable Water Award" of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2016), He is the recipient of Honor Award for Scientific Excellence by the American Chemical Society in 2017, in the ACS conference in honor of Professor Jun Ma. He also received two National Inventory Awards from the Chinese Government. He is the recipient of China Young Scientist Award (one of the ten recipients in 2006), and the recipient of Achievement Award of Chiangjiang Scholars (Engineering Science Award, the single recipient in 2007 in China). He holds 6 US patents and 120 Chinese Invention patents and over 300 peer reviewed international journal papers. He is the recipient of Super Reviewer Award and Excellence in Review Award of the journal of Environmental Science and Technology. He is Associate Editor of ACS ES&T-Engineering, and the IWA official journal of Water Research, and the journal of Applied Water Science, and the journal of Advanced Oxidation Technology. He is also the Advisory Board Editorial Member of "Environmental Science and Technology Letter" and RSC Journal of "Environmental Science: Water Research and Technology".

Keping Yan

Zhejiang University


Prof. dr. Keping Yan received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in applied physics from Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), The Netherlands, respectively.  From 1986 to 2006, he was with BIT, Padova University, Oita University, ENEL, and TU/e. In 2006, he joined the Zhejiang University, China, as a Full Professor.

Since 1986, his R&D activities have been in environmental engineering and science, applied plasmas and electrostatic precipitation. As a coauthor, he published more than 100 papers in journals or chapters.

He received several national and international awards including the blue sky award from Chinese ESP committee, the marine technique achievement award from Chinese marine committee, the Frederick G. Cottrell Award from the ISESP, and the 2019 ISEHD J.S. Chang lecture award.

Since 2004, he has been a board member and the president (2008-2011) of the International Society of Electrostatic Precipitation (ISESP).

Kiyoshi YOSHIKAWA

Kyoto University


Kiyoshi Yoshikawa (Professor Emeritus, Dr. Eng., nuclear engineering, Kyoto University, Japan, 1974) is currently a specially-appointed professor at Institute of Advanced Energy, Kyoto University and also a Counselor at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Thailand since Feburuary, 2022, after serving as a Research Advisor to the President of Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Chiangmai since June, 2015, Thailand. Before in Thailand, he served for 6 years as Executive Vice President for Research of Kyoto University, Japan. He held a visiting appointment at University of California, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory 
(now LLNL) in 1978 and at University of California, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (now LBNL) until March 1980. He served as the Chairperson of the Research Institute Directors’ Committee of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology during 2003-2004, and also served as a director of Institute of Advanced Energy, Kyoto University during 2000-2007.His main interests are high voltage, plasma and Finebubble(Micro/nano bubble) applications to agriculture, aquaculture and industries, in addition to fusion direct energy conversion, reactor-relevant advanced technologies, super-compact DD fusion inertial-electrostatic confinement fusion, fusion reactor design, free electron laser, and humanitarian landmine detection.
